Tom Gilbey is an award-winning wine expert, with an unrivalled career in wine.
The Gilbey name is synonymous with wines and spirits. They were the first English family to buy a vineyard, Chateau Loudenne, in Bordeaux, subsequently became the most prominent wine and spirits merchant in the UK, selling one in every three bottles of wine consumed, and building a portfolio that included Smirnoff Vodka, J&B whisky and their very own Gilbeys Gin.
Spending much of his childhood at his grandfather’s chateaux, Tom naturally – and inevitably – caught the oenophile bug. He started out professionally as a winemaker at the age of 23, and has been working with wine all his adult life, from maker to merchant, and now with his latest venture Tom Gilbey Wine. Throughout his 30 year career, Tom has had an unwavering passion for wine.
Wanting to bring wine to life, make it fun, and share this experience with people prompted Tom to upload a clip to Instagram. Growing his following to over 100,000, his hugely entertaining viral videos have propelled him into the public consciousness, with audiences worldwide loving his charming blend of passion, humour and knowledge.
Tom is now a regular contributor to many publications including Country and Townhouse magazine and he works closely with brands such as Rick Stein, Deloitte, Coutts Bank, Investec, Tommy Banks, Peloton and many more.
Tom’s energy, enthusiasm and expertise have meant he has cemented his reputation as one of the leading wine entertainers in the world.
